Path of Exile Item Upgrading
In Path of Exile, item upgrading is one of the most effective ways to upgrade your gear without relying on large-ticket drops or trade. This article will show you how to upp your items effectively.
Upgrades to equipment provide an increase to the item's base stats. This bonus scales depending on the rarity and quality of the upgrade component.
Components
Upgrade components are the items that improve your armor and weapons better. You can locate them by destroying enemies, buying them from karma vendors, or finding them in items-spheres. You can also get them from equipment that has the components, or by utilizing high-tier salvage kits such as Black Lion Salvage Kit and Ascended Salvage Tool. In contrast to other items upgrade components, upgrade components aren't destroyed when removed from an item.
Upgrade components are primarily used to improve an item however, they can also be used for other reasons. They can be used to boost the value of an upgradeable item or they can be used to increase the experience gained by upgrading an existing weapon or piece of gear. They can be forged to give additional benefits. For instance, a created glyph can increase the chance of upgrading its target, and the boost upgrade can enhance the defense or attack property of a weapon, or armor.
By selecting an upgrade template from the GUI will let you bind it to an item. This will display the upgrade components to which the item can be updated. You can also use the workbench to selecting an upgrade template. In either case, an item will be upgraded after enough upgrade components have been gathered.
Each component has a different experience multiplier that affects the amount of experience an item receives when it upgrades with the component. For instance, organic components give more experience multipliers than mechanical ones. It is therefore recommended to upgrade using organic components until you reach the multiplier of experience for the next rank of equipment or weapon, and then switch to mechanical upgrades.
Each item comes with a maximum upgrade number that it is possible to receive. The number of upgradeable items is determined by their upgradeable rank and the kind of upgrade they can receive. For example, the highest possible weapon upgrade is a weapon with tier 10. The most popular weapon upgrade is a gun of tier 6 and an armor upgrade of tier 5.
Sets
A set is a set of items that share the same bonus. Each item can be upgraded at the minimum once. The upgrade boosts the guaranteed bonuses. The first time you upgrade an item, its initial stat will be +1. On subsequent upgrades, the primary stats will be increased even more (for instance the +1 bon us for 12+/13+/14+) and each time an item is upgraded, one of its stats will increase randomly.
The upgrade of a weapon can increase the damage base, which could be necessary for certain builds. Weapons cannot be upgraded for a higher maximum defence roll than their base. It's possible to increase the value of certain set and unique items by upgrading them, however they may not always be superior to a higher-level Runeword.
If an item you're upgrading has a guaranteed bonus that is guaranteed, it can be rerolled once and the guarantee will be reset to zero. Rerolling will cost the same amount of power dice as the process of leveling an item, but the upgraded item will come with various bonuses. Upgrading can be done at the NPC [Armor] Boboko in the Central Flarine. To upgrade an item, you will require a power die of each type (Dice 4 or 6 drop from monsters 21+ and Giants; dice 7 drops from bosses) and the proper amount of Minerals and Erons. These are available at the crafting table or in the Ultra Collector, and can be purchased with Gold. The NPC will also provide an extra reward for each completed tier of the upgrade process. This reward can be rerolled a second time and will use the same materials used in the original item.
Rerolling
If the player has enough to reroll tokens, they are able to roll any item they've accumulated during the game. If an item is rerolled, it will be replaced with an equivalent level 1 version from another set. Reroll tokens are sold in the shop for a small amount of in-game currency. They are non-refundable. The new item will offer the same bonuses like the first, however the stats will also be different.
Players can change the identification of equipment in addition to rolling it again by interacting with an NPC upgrader. This will change the identification from an armor to a weapon or vice versa, all the while retaining its base stats and required attributes. The change will be permanent and will affect all characters that own the gear.
The player can also upgrade their level of the item for any equipment equipped. This is accomplished by engaging with an upgrader NPC, and then obtaining upgrade components. The cost of upgrading will depend on the upgrade track, the item type and the number of crests. In the case of weapons, each step will add 5% to its damage.
Upgrading an item will make it more powerful however it can also lower its quality. Therefore, it is crucial to keep both in check. Some items aren't worth upgrading, while other items require upgrades to reach their full potential. For instance one player might wish to upgrade a piece of breakpoint armor that has an interesting modifier ( percent chance of blocking or FHR) to see what it can become.
Rerolling is a popular practice in Genshin Impact and other gacha-based games. People do it in order to get an item or character they would not otherwise be able to acquire. These items can be expensive and time-consuming and the RNG gods don't always want to play. The only options left are to spend real cash or grind lots. Rerolling is a popular option in Genshin Impact.
Leveling
You can select whether to upgrade the weapon or armor after upgrading an item. This feature is not available in the current version of the game. I think this feature was intended to give value to expensive and rare items. However, since most equipment is replaced quickly and can only be upgraded to a certain level, you will usually replace it before it gets too old. It's also not worthwhile to upgrade items that have gem sockets because the power of the gem will outweigh the higher ilvl that comes with the upgrade.
You will be presented with a small box when you click on the upgrade option for an item. It will show the template for the item, its Crest, as well as the cost for Valorstone to raise the item level. The costs will vary between the armor and weapons and the latter typically costing more than the latter. The upgrade template lists the stats to be added to an upgraded item and also the current ilvl.
The Crest and Valorstone costs are calculated according to the item's current ilvl as well as the upgrade template. The ilvl is also reduced by the upgrade templates reduction percentage for lvl. For instance, a weapon with an increase of 8% will reduce its count by 8-8%.
The item will get upgrades to other stats, like critical strike damage, PvE damage, and block, parry and dodge rating, in addition to the base ilvl. The increases are also dependent on the upgrade template.
The amount of damage and defense that the item receives when it is leveled can be observed below the upgrade cost and decrease percentages in the upgrade template window. All armor and weapons, except practice equipment, gain these stats upon leveling up. The value of these stats will be determined by the market, with a perfectly perfectly rolled version of a piece of armor or weapon is able to command more in trade value than unupp'd versions. The same applies to other pieces of armor, like tiaras and circlets.
